ASSOCIATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF AFRICAN WOMEN ECONOMISTS (AAAWE) 2026 Virtual Mentorship Program

Application deadline: March 1, 2026

The Think Africa Partnership (TAP) of the World Bank, in partnership with the Association for the Advancement of African Women Economists (AAAWE), is organizing the fourth round of the virtual mentoring program for African women economists residing in Africa or the diaspora. The program will run from March 2026 to November 2026, and mentees will meet with their mentors at least six times during this period. Mentees will be divided into small groups and matched with mentors based on their research interests. Group members and mentors will discuss and provide feedback on participants' research and career development. In addition, mentees will participate in larger sessions that focus on topics such as developing a research agenda, framing research papers for publication, applying for grants, networking strategies, and maintaining work-life balance. Some mentees may attend the Southern Economics Association (SEA) in Houston, Nov 21–23, 2026. Mentees who fulfill all the program requirements will receive a certificate of participation.

The application process has two steps. First, use the link below to create an AAAWE account. Second, complete the form below. You will be asked to submit your CV and a brief description of the research you plan to conduct during the program.
