This role is at the Düsseldorf Graduate School of Economics (DGSE) and the Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE) at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, a position is available starting 1 October 2026
Main Tasks
- research and teaching in the area of Economic Theory and Policy, Industrial Organization, Behavioral Economics, International Economics or Econometrics
The DGSE's specific focus on Competition Economics and Regulatory Issues in research and teaching and the close links of DICE to competition policy practice provide an excellent platform for the education of doctoral students. Besides Competition Economics and Policy, we supervise other research topics in Applied Microeconomics, such as Behavioral Economics, Experimental Economics, International Economics and Econometrics. Doctoral students participate in courses and seminars which focus on the topics of the Graduate Program.
Ideal Candidate
- a completed scientific university education (M.Sc. / MA / Diploma / Magister) in Economics or in a related quantitative-mathematical discipline with outstanding grades
- talented and motivated applicants with a strong interest in Economic Theory and Policy, Industrial Organization, Behavioral Economics, International Economics, Empirical Economics or Econometrics
- very good knowledge of theoretical and empirical economic methods and an excellent command of the English language
Offer
The employment is initially limited to a period of 2 years with an option for prolongation by two additional years if the applicant reaches the targets agreed upon with their supervisor during the hiring process. It is a qualification position in the sense of the Act on Fixed-Term Employment Contracts in Academia (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz-WissZeitVG), which is to promote the scientific qualification of the employee. The qualification target of this position is a PhD.
The pay scale grouping will be, depending on the personal qualification of the applicant, up to pay grade 13 TV-L.
