Blood Compatibility

BLOOD GENOTYPE
Before you agree to be in a relationship with that person, there are some important things one must note. This list ranges from blood compatibility to finances to medical history and lots more. I will be focusing on BLOOD GENOTYPE for today.
Genotype is the part of the genetic makeup of a cell, and therefore of any individual which determines one of its characteristics(traits). Traits are a collection of genes passed from parents to their children. Note CHILDREN BORN OF A PARENT WILL HAVE A DIFFERENT GENOTYPE except in cases of twins or multiple births that are fertilized from the same egg.
Before proper knowledge on blood genotype was known, there has been high infant death rates and mortality rates due to genotype incompatibility.
Due to the onset of modern medicine, biological sciences has explained sickle cells and this has helped reduce the mortality rate. Blood genotype plays an important role during blood transfusions and determination of a child’s paternity.
TYPES OF BLOOD GENOTYPE
Blood genotype in humans are of 4 types
AA,AS,AC and SS. AC is a rare blood genotype whereas SS and AC are abnormal blood genotype.
POSSIBLE OUTCOMES OF DIFFERENT GENETIC COMBINATION
AA+AA=AA,AA,AA,AA (EXCELLENT )
AA+AS=AA,AS,AA,AS (GOOD)
AA+SS=AS,AS,AS,AS (FAIR)
AA+AC=AA,AC,AA,AC (GOOD)
AS+AS= AA,SS,AA,SS (not compatible)
AS+SS=AS,SS,SS,AS (not compatible)
AS+AC=AA,AC,AS,SS (not compatible)
SS+SS=SS,SS,SS,SS (shouldn’t be tried)
AC+SS=AS,AS,SS,SS (not compatible)
AC+AC=AA,AC,AC,SS (not compatible)
Using the above results, someone with AA genotype can marry anybody but it is safe for someone with AS genotype to marry a person with AA genotype. The combinations of AS and AS, AS and AC,AS and SS,AC and SS,AC and AC should not be risked because there is a probability of having SS. Two individuals with SS (sickle cell) used not be encouraged to be in a relationship or get married.
Individuals with AA genotype are encouraged to marry AS,AC and SS carriers to help prevent genetic abnormalities. As this will help reduce mortality rates.
HOW TO KNOW YOUR GENOTYPE
Walk into any hospital of good reputation and request for blood test. The result will show your blood genotype and blood group. This will help prevent pathetic stories in the future.
