3rd Workshop on the Economics of Health and Human Capital 2026

The 3rd Workshop on the Economics of Health and Human Capital will take place on the 18th of June 2026 in Madrid.

The workshop builds on the successful workshops we hosted in Madrid in 2024 and in Castellón de la Plana last year.

The primary objectives of this workshop are the discussion and dissemination of state-of-the-art econometric, data science and causal inference methods applied to substantive issues in the broad fields of the economics of health and human capital.

Format

This is a 1-day workshop consisting of 10 papers. Each accepted paper will be allocated 30 minutes, including: a presentation by the author (20 minutes) and an open discussion with the audience (10 minutes). The number of participants will be limited to around 20.

Keynote speaker

The workshop will include a keynote lecture delivered by Gabriella Conti (University College London, UK).

Abstract submission

We welcome submissions covering a wide range of topics related to health and human capital, including but not limited to the interactions between health, education and the labour market. Submission from early career researchers are particularly encouraged.

Papers will be selected on the basis of extended abstracts (max 500 words). Each abstract will need to include three main sections: background and motivation, methods, and main results. The deadline for submission of the extended abstract is the 15th of April 2026 (abstracts submitted after the 15th of April 2026 will not be considered).

Submissions are now open and abstracts should be submitted to MadridWorkshop26@gmail.com

Abstracts will be reviewed by members of the scientific committee and acceptance will be confirmed by the 4th of May 2026.

Full drafts of accepted papers will need to be submitted by the 7th of June 2026 to MadridWorkshop26@gmail.com. The drafts will be circulated among the participants in the workshop.
